The UAE's Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched a AED 12.5 million winter aid campaign to support more than 300,000 people across 17 countries during severe weather conditions.
Hundreds of volunteers met at the ERC's Abu Dhabi Headquarters on Monday to put together the aid packages.
Launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the campaign aims to help vulnerable communities, particularly refugees, and those displaced by humanitarian crises.
ERC Secretary-General Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei explained that the organisation developed a phased implementation plan throughout winter, in coordination with relevant authorities and humanitarian partners in the UAE and abroad, prioritising children, older people, women, and displaced and refugee families.
He added that the strong volunteer turnout reflected the spirit of solidarity within the UAE.
