Williamson leads New Zealand's fightback against Pakistan in opening Test

New Zealand ended day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan at 222 for 3, in Mount Maunganui.

Skipper Kane Williamson struck an unbeaten 94 and Henry Nicholls was not out on 42 as the hosts recovered from 13-2.

Following the loss of openers Tom Latham (4) and Tom Blundell (5), Williamson and Ross Taylor (70) pulled New Zealand back into the game with a 120-run stand.

Pakistan's fast bowler Shaheen Afridi ended the day with 3-55.
