Bert van Marwijk has been sacked as the head coach of the UAE national football team after less than nine months in charge.

The Dutchman was appointed in March on an initial three-year contract.

The Football Association has said that his successor will be appointed in the coming days.

The UAE recently crashed out of the Gulf Cup of Nations following two straight defeats in the group stage.
