Russian sports minister praises UAE's excellence in sports development

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, has commended the remarkable progress across various sectors in Dubai, particularly in sport.

Accompanied by a delegation currently visiting the UAE, the Russian minister made the statement during a meeting with Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The delegation was briefed on the various programmes, activities, and goals of Dubai's sports sector and its development prospects.

Degtyarev expressed the Russian Federation's commitment to strengthening cooperation in the sports field with the UAE, highlighting the desire of Russian teams, national squads, and athletes to hold training camps and participate in competitions in Dubai, attracted by the city’s exceptional sports infrastructure, facilities, and its organisational expertise, making it an ideal destination for athletes.

Belhoul emphasised that the UAE sports sector enjoys unlimited support from the country's leadership, which seeks to achieve sporting, social, and economic goals that enhance quality of life, community happiness levels, and public health. He noted that government regulations provide a robust foundation for sustainable and significant development in this vital sector.

He added that the Dubai Sports Council collaborates with partners from both the public and private sectors to enhance sports participation and promote physical activity in Dubai.
