Premier League: Liverpool surges ahead as Mourinho makes winning start

Liverpool have maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace means Jurgen Klopp's team are now unbeaten in their first 13 top-flight games.

Leicester won 2-0 at Brighton to stay second in the table, while champions Manchester City moved up to third following a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho made a winning start in charge of Tottenham with a 3-2 victory over West Ham and Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by struggling Southampton.

In other games, Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat to Norwich and Burnley crushed Watford 3-0.
