Newcastle United has completed the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali for a staggering £55 million.

The talented player has agreed to a five-year contract at St James' Park, making him the first signing for Newcastle in the summer transfer window.

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, expressed his excitement over Tonali's arrival, calling the midfielder an exceptional talent and highlighting the attributes that make him a perfect fit for the team. At 23 years, he already boasts significant experience as a key player in one of Europe's top leagues and the Champions League, not to mention his international appearances for his home country.

Speaking about the transfer, Howe said, "He is an exceptional talent and has the mentality, physicality and technical skills to be a great fit for us. But he also has the opportunity and potential to grow and evolve with us, and I'm excited to add him to our squad as we approach the exciting season ahead."

The arrival of Sandro Tonali has received praise from his future teammates as well. Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon described the Italian midfielder as "one of the best midfielders in the world". Gordon, who is currently representing England in the Under-21s European Championships, expressed his anticipation of playing alongside Tonali.

"I knew him from his early days at Brescia. I remember seeing some clips of him before he went to Milan," he stated after helping England secure a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. "He has excelled and is one of the top midfielders in the world. It shows the direction we are going in. I'm really looking forward to playing with him."

The signing of Tonali represents a significant move for Newcastle United as they aim to bolster their squad and compete at the highest levels in the upcoming season.
