Hashim Amla has quit as South Africa’s Test cricket captain mid-way through the four-match series against England. The 32-year-old batsman made the surprise announcement after the second Test in Cape Town ended in a draw. Amla scored a fighting double century in the match. Since his appointment in June 2014, Amla led South Africa in 14 Tests, winning four, drawing six and losing four. AB de Villiers will stand in as captain for the remainder of the series against England.
