FIFA presidential election to go ahead on Friday

FIFA presidential contender Jerome Champagne of France smiles as he speaks to the press in Zurich on February 24, 2016.

FIFA's presidential election will take place on Friday after a bid from one of the candidates to have it suspended was rejected. The Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the appeal from Prince Ali bin al-Hussein who has concerns about the transparency of the election. Meanwhile, FIFA has rejected appeals from former president Sepp Blatter, and suspended UEFA boss Michel Platini against bans from all football-related activity. FIFA - international football's governing body - has been mired in controversy over corruption and fraud. Five candidates will now attempt to win the post as Sepp Blatter's successor, in a vote in Zurich on Friday. Reporter Olly Barratt will be in Zurich for the election and says it is crucial for an organisation which has been rocked in recent months.
