Bangladesh celebrated their first win at the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup since 2014, defeating newcomers Scotland by 16 runs in the tournament opener in Sharjah.

Led by Sobhana Mostary, who scored a personal best of 36, Bangladesh set a total of 119 for seven.

Scotland struggled in their chase, with Sarah Bryce unable to form crucial partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Despite an unbeaten 49 from Bryce, Scotland fell short, and Nahida Akter made history as the first Bangladeshi woman to reach 100 T20I wickets, sealing the victory for her team.
