Atletico Madrid suspends ticket sales following sanctions

AFP

Atletico Madrid announced that they will not sell tickets to season ticket holders for their next five away matches due to recent sanctions imposed by UEFA and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The decision follows a €30,000 fine from UEFA for "racist discriminatory" behavior exhibited by fans during Atletico's 4-0 defeat against Benfica in the Champions League.

Additionally, RFEF has mandated partial stadium closures for Atletico's next three home matches after disturbances, including items thrown onto the pitch, during a match against Real Madrid.

In a statement, Atletico expressed concern about the damage to the club's image, emphasizing the exemplary behavior of the majority of their supporters.

The club stated, "The seriousness of the matter and the responsibility to look after the image of our club has forced the entity to take this measure while all those involved in such incidents are identified."
