The Chicago River turned green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, making the city's annual event that sees thousands of people line the streets for the 63-year-old tradition.

Crowds erupted into cheers as members of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union Local 130 sprayed dye into the water from boats.

The wacky event precedes the city parade, adding non-toxic colour to the iconic water.

St Patrick's Day 2025 falls on Monday, March 17.
