Wedding receptions and other social events will be allowed to resume in Dubai's hotels, homes and tents in residential areas, from October 22.

The Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued the latest directive.

According to the new guidelines, a maximum of 200 people will be allowed in each hall and 30 people in tents and homes, subject to compliance with the rule of one person per four square metres.

Physical distancing norms must be maintained and the duration of events should not exceed four hours. Attendees are required to wear face masks at all times and can remove them only when seated at their tables.

Elderly people and those with chronic conditions are advised not to attend such functions.

Tables should be placed at least two metres apart from each other and a maximum of five guests are allowed per table.

Attendees should avoid being seated face-to-face and maintain a distance of more than 1.5 metres between each other

A set of mandatory guidelines have been issued to hotels, halls and service providers.

The Supreme Committee said that the rules will be strictly enforced and violators will be held accountable for lack of compliance.

It called on members of the community to comply with the precautionary measures and avoid large gatherings that do not adhere to the official guidelines.

The Committee also added that all its decisions are aimed at safeguarding everyone’s health and safety, which continue to be the highest priorities for the Government of Dubai and frontline entities.
