Watch: UAE using police sniffer dogs to detect COVID-19

WAM

The UAE's Ministry of Interior has trained sniffer dogs to track possible COVID-19 infections.

It's part of efforts to support the country's frontline workers.

The mobile K9 units will be deployed at venues of major events and competitions.

The dogs have been specially trained to smell samples from the armpits of suspected cases.

UAE authorities carried out workshops and studies in cooperation with prominent international veterinary colleges before successfully rolling out a trial programme.
