A new outdoor leisure destination has opened in Abu Dhabi, featuring multiple campsites and picnic spots.

Al Wathba Lake Camp includes 13 campsites with a capacity of 120 people, in addition to 24 picnic sites with dedicated areas for barbecues.

The project features 3,000 square metres of recreation and gathering space to cater to 500 visitors per day.

The campground is a 45-minute drive from the centre of Abu Dhabi.

"This new destination is part of the DMT's strategy to develop sustainable and smart infrastructure, facilities and services for the prosperity and happiness of the community and to enhance the attractiveness and quality of life in the emirate," said Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Acting Director General of Operational Affairs at Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).
