UAE sends medical aid to Botswana in fight against COVID-19

The UAE has sent an aid plane with medical supplies to Botswana to help the country combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The five metric tonnes of medical supplies will assist approximately 5,000 medical professionals.

Mahash Saeed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to South Africa and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Botswana, said the aid will enable Botswana's "healthcare workers to take the necessary precautions as they work to protect the public from COVID-19".

It's part of the UAE's commitment to strengthen global efforts aimed at tackling the spread of the virus

Since the start of the pandemic, the country has sent more than 353 metric tonnes of aid to over 35 countries, benefitting nearly 353,000 frontline workers.
