UAE President welcomes Indonesian counterpart

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia at his official reception ceremony in Qasr Al Watan on Saturday.

The Indonesian Presiden's motorcade was met by a procession of riders on camels and Arabian horses, alongside traditional Emirati cultural performances in celebration of the visit.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed accompanied President Subianto to inspect the guard of honour and witness performances of the UAE and Indonesian national anthems. The ceremony featured a 21-gun artillery salute, and the visiting delegation received a warm welcome from groups of Emirati children waving the flags of both countries and offering cheerful greetings.

President Prabowo Subianto is accompanied on the visit by a delegation comprising Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment; Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources; Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Minister of Tourism, and a number of senior Indonesian officials.

The leaders reviewed strategic relations between the two countries and explored opportunities for further collaboration within the framework of the UAE-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

The two parties observed the signing of several MoUs across range of areas, including technology, renewable energy, healthcare, culture, and tourism. They also extend to mining, infrastructure, government modernisation and development, as well as investments, international shipping, and other fields.

Writing in the Qasr Al Watan VIP guestbook, President Subianto wrote of his wish for continued progress and prosperity for the UAE-Indonesian relationship and the resulting benefit and growth it would bring to the people of both nations.

The Indonesian head of state arrived in Abu Dhabi for a state visit on Saturday, soon after his last visit in July 2024.
