President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz looked at "joint efforts to tackle climate change" during their talks in Abu Dhabi's Al Shati Palace.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance partnership in several sectors, including economic, trade and food security.

Following the meeting, the Energy Security and Industry Accelerator (ESIA) Agreement was inked between the two sides as they look to boost projects in energy security, decarbonisation and climate action.

Taking to his official account, Sheikh Mohamed said he was pleased to explore "further opportunities in areas including energy security, emissions reduction and climate action".

The agreement was signed by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Climate Special Envoy, and Managing Director and Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Dr. Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Dr Jaber highlighted how the "landmark agreement reinforces the rapidly growing energy partnership between the UAE and Germany".
