UAE President discusses Gaza ceasefire efforts with Trump

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has discussed efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza during a call with US President Donald Trump.

According to the national news agency Wam, Sheikh Mohamed stressed the importance of ensuring the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to Gaza and reiterated the UAE’s support for the two-state solution.

The call also focused on strengthening strategic ties between the UAE and US and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various areas.

The notable agreements made between the two countries in AI and advanced tech during the official US visit of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser were also highlighted. The UAE and US greenlighted several key partnerships in the fields of infrastructure, energy and tech.

A two-month ceasefire in Gaza has been broken after the Israeli military resumed fighting on March 18, leaving nearly 700 people killed.

Since the war broke out in October 2023, more than 50,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the stats released by the Palestinian health authorities. Meanwhile, Israel said Hamas has killed more than 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took some 250 people into captivity in Gaza.
