That's according to Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, who made the remarks during the ministerial meeting in support of the situation in Afghanistan, chaired by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

He reaffirmed the UAE's solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, highlighting that assistance worth AED 6.2 billion has been offered in the recent years.

The aid provided focused on food, healthcare, water, housing, education, and sanitation to serve women and children.

Since the beginning of September, 12 planes carrying 285 tonnes of urgent food and medical supplies have been sent to Afghanistan

The UAE has also helped evacuate over 40,000 Afghans and foreign nationals from Afghanistan and is temporarily hosting thousands of families before they depart for their next destination.
