The UAE has joined 17 major economies to discuss mobilising action on climate change. Officials from the UAE have attended a meeting of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate (MEF) in New York, to discuss measures. UAE officials at the meeting said the country believes there’s an urgent need to deploy clean energy technologies at the lowest possible costs in order to achieve progress. Discussions at the forum focused on a number of important issues that, it’s hoped, will be resolved ahead of a crucial summit to be held in Paris this December. COP21, also known as the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, will, for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, aim to achieve a legally binding universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C.
