UAE intensifies anti-mosquito efforts

via MOCCAE

The UAE has stepped up its programme to control the spread of mosquitoes in the country following the recent spells of bad weather.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) said it is working with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), and relevant local authorities, to intensify its efforts in the third phase of the the Anti-Mosquito Campaign.

It's part of the commitment to eradicating breeding hotspots and minimise mosquito populations across the country, monitoring areas where they are prevalent.

H.E. Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sustainable Communities Sector at MOCCAE, said mosquito control is one of their main priorities in the aftermath of the heavy rain, reaffirming the ministry will provide all the necessary information, guidance, and support to the community to help reduce their spread.

The first phase of the campaign was launched in February 2022 and the current phase will continue until May 2025.
