The UAE is set to activate remote work for a segment of federal government employees for two weeks, starting Sunday.

According to national news agency WAM, the new work plan - introduced as a precautionary measure to the novel coronavirus and to safeguard the wellbeing of the community - could be extended beyond the March 26 timeline.

This will apply to pregnant women, mothers of children in the ninth grade or below, people of determination, elderly employees and those with pre-existing health conditions.

The technically-advanced work plan will allow staff to carry out their jobs remotely without impacting productivity, officials added.
