WAM

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that its electronic systems were running normally again following a global IT outage, with its attestation services also resuming regular operations.

Earlier in the day, MOFA had advised users not to conduct any transactions on its online portals as some of its electronic systems had been affected by the global technical glitch.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also issued a similar advisory, saying customers could experience difficulties accessing some of its online services.

A massive global IT outage was disrupting operations at companies across multiple industries worlwide on Friday, with major airlines halting flights, some broadcasters off-air and sectors ranging from banking to healthcare hit by system problems.

An update to a product offered by global cyberscurity firm CrowdStrike appeared to be the trigger, affecting customers using Microsoft's Windows Operating System. Microsoft said later on Friday the issue had been fixed.
