UAE extends grace period for visa violators

WAM

The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has extended the grace period granted to visa violators until the end of this year.

Major General Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Foreigners Affairs and Ports at ICA, said the grace period extension will be until December 31 for tourist or residency visas expired before March 1.

All fines and restrictions involving Emirates IDs and work permits will also be lifted provided they leave the country.

The amnesty, which was introduced on May 14, was supposed to end on November 17.

Al Rashidi added that the grace period extension is to enable violators to adjust their status in the country.
