UAE dispatches more aid planes to Turkey, Syria

The UAE has sent another five aircraft carrying relief supplies to Turkey and Syria.

A total of 27 aid planes have now been dispatched as part of the UAE's 'Gallant Knight/2' operation to support those affected by the recent earthquakes in the two countries.

These include seventeen aircraft sent to Turkey, including the two that arrived today.

Meanwhile, 10 planes have been sent to Syria, including the three that arrived today, carrying 87 tonnes of food supplies, 20 tonnes of medical supplies and 432 tents.

Efforts are also underway to set up a field hospital in the Turkish town of Islahiye.

The UAE has so far sent 92 search and rescue team members to Turkey, who have been operating under harsh weather conditions.

They rescued four people in Kermanmaraş and retrieved nine bodies from under the rubble.

Launched under the directives of the UAE leadership, the 'Gallant Knight/2' operation is led by the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence.
