The UAE said the killing of Chad’s President Idriss Deby was a cowardly act against a friend who had worked to bring stability and prosperity to his country.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, expressed its deep condolences to the late President's family and the Chadian people.

The UAE called for dialogue on the peaceful transfer of power to achieve security for Chad and the region.

The statement also referred to both nations' close relationship.

It stressed the UAE’s support for efforts to preserve Chad’s stability, which is considered a cornerstone for the Sahel and Saharan regions.
