The UAE on Monday concluded its two-year term as a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Each year the UN General Assembly elects five new non-permanent members to serve a two-year term alongside the five permanent members of the UNSC, United Kingdom, United States, China, France and Russia.

The 2022-2023 term saw the membership of the UAE, Albania, Brazil, Gabon, and Ghana. They will be replaced by 2024-2025 elected members Algeria, Guyana, the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, and Slovenia.

The UAE Mission to the UN took to its social media upon the term's conclusion, to say that they sought to promote the UAE's values of tolerance and co-existence under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs.

They added that they "advocated for Palestine and other Arab causes, championed the Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Afghanistan and Haiti, and advanced the Council’s engagement on Climate, Peace, and Security".
