G20: UAE and Brazil sign two agreements

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed two agreements ahead of the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro, set to take place on 18 and 19 November.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to establish a joint mechanism to boost UAE investments in Brazil, while another MoU was signed on cooperation in Africa. Additionally, they discussed enhancing customs cooperation and trade relations. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in economy, investment, renewable energy, and sustainability. 

The UAE is participation as a guest at the G20 Summit, under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet."

Both leaders explored initiatives to promote sustainable development and deepen collaboration in key sectors.

The President of Brazil also expressed gratitude for the UAE's support of Brazil's G20 initiatives, including efforts to combat hunger and poverty and protect tropical rainforests.

Another initiative of the UAE is to plant 10,000 palm trees in the Brazilian state of Bahia which was highly praised, this is part of a programme aimed at transferring knowledge to the Brazilian side of this sector, in cooperation with Al Foah Company.

Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to furthering ties with Brazil and advancing shared goals for prosperity and development.

Following the meeting, Sheikh Khaled will lead the UAE delegation to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19, 2024, at the invitation of President Lula.
