UAE Attorney-General bans publication of 'rape incident' video

WAM

UAE's Attorney General Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi has ordered a ban on posting or circulation of the recent "rape incident" video on all UAE media platforms.

He said the decision was taken to protect the privacy of the victim and in public interest.

Dr Al Shamsi added that legal action has been taken against the "group of young men", who were arrested in Abu Dhabi after the video was shared on social media.

"The Public Prosecution ordered the pretrial detention of those accused of the offence, pending investigation, and legal measures have been taken against them in light of the evidence in the case and all its circumstances," he noted.

He thanked the police officers in Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi for joining forces and ensuring the arrest of the accused.
