Foreign students will soon be able to sponsor or bring their families to the UAE if they have the financial means to do so.

The announcement was made on Twitter by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, after he chaired the first Cabinet meeting of the year.

The meeting also saw the adoption of a framework for media strategy and a circular economic policy that puts special focus on clean energy, sustainable transportation and efficient waste management. He also introduced the implementation of a federal council to follow this through.

The Cabinet also approved the formation of the Emirates Tourism Council that puts the spotlight on the UAE's natural resources and the employment benefits it will have for the youth.

The federal government's public debt strategy was also approved with the goal to build a bond market in the local currency and revitalize the country's financial and banking sector.
