Sharjah announces new safety measures ahead of Ramadan

WAM

A set of safety measures have been issued in Sharjah ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the emirate’s Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team (ECDMT), family or institutional iftar tents and gatherings will be strictly prohibited during the month-long fast.

The act of distributing meals in front of restaurants, homes and mosques has also been banned.

Officials have clarified that people can donate meals and offer assistance to families in-need through accredited charities in the emirate.

They also said that the decision aims to preserve the safety of the community and to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, field inspections in the city will be intensified during Ramadan to ensure that health and safety standards are met.

Community members have also been urged to contact (901) or e-mail covid19@shjpolice.gov.ae to report any violations.
