Sharjah to cancel 10-year-old traffic fines for a fee

Any fines incurred on traffic violations that happened more than 10 years ago can be cancelled, a ruling by Sharjah Ruler's Office announced.

The council meeting on Tuesday said outstanding fines can be waived for a fee of 1,000 dirhams.

In case, the driver has deceased or left the country, or is untraceable after abandoning the vehicle, the fee will be scrapped. 

The meeting was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.
