A major sanitation drive is being carried out in schools and universities across the UAE.

More than 600 buildings and 6,000 school buses have been sterilised so far to limit the spread of COVID-19.

It comes as educational facilities in the country mark a four-week-long closure, starting today.

According to the ministry of education, staff and students who travelled abroad during the break will be screened for signs of coronavirus. Further details are yet to be revealed.

The UAE has confirmed 45 cases of the virus so far, including seven who have fully recovered.
