RTA launches charitable Ramadan activities

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a diverse range of community events and interactive charitable activities for the holy month of Ramadan.

The 20 initiatives will take place at the RTA’s headquarters, metro stations, and marine transport hubs, fostering a spirit of generosity and social engagement throughout Ramadan.

The initiatives create an opportunity for employees, volunteers, and community members to come together and bring joy to people of determination, orphans, cyclists, truck drivers, metro passengers, and families in need. The events also reflect Dubai’s rich cultural heritage, celebrating the values of compassion and unity that define the holy month.

The CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, Abdullah Al Ali, stated: “Through these humanitarian initiatives, the RTA aims to support various segments of society both locally and internationally. This year’s Ramadan initiatives are designed to benefit bus drivers, labourers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and low-income individuals, reflecting RTA’s core values of tolerance, collaboration, and teamwork. These efforts also align with the UAE leadership’s vision in declaring 2025 as ‘The Year of Community.’”

Elaborating on the initiatives, Al Ali said, “The RTA has designated five external initiatives, set to begin on the first day of Ramadan. These include the ‘Iftar Saem’ initiative, launched in collaboration with Beit Al Khair Society, and the ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative, which starts in the second week of Ramadan as part of an annual programme benefiting bus, delivery, and truck drivers, as well as labour accommodations and abra commuters.

"Metro station activities will feature the distribution of 5,000 Iftar meals along with dedicated kiosks at a metro station offering symbolic gifts to labourers.”

The RTA will also launch the ‘Ramadan Rations’ initiative on Zayed Humanitarian Workday, observed on the 19th of Ramadan each year to commemorate the passing of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This initiative targets low-income families, providing essential food supplies for the holy month through nol cards.”

Fifteen activities were planned to bring joy to RTA employees, including leadership teams, people of determination, and field staff.

The aim was to foster a positive atmosphere and provide opportunities for communal gatherings, such as group Iftars for field staff and engineers and departmental Iftars at the Winter Camp. Support would also be extended to low-income employees through Ramadan Rations vouchers and the distribution of clothing and food supplies via the ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative.
