Ras Al Khaimah is the latest emirate to reopen commercial activities.

The RAK Department of Economic Development has announced that malls and restaurants have opened today, with health and safety guidelines in place. They must operate at 30 percent capacity, with under 12s and over 60s not allowed to enter.

Tables in restaurants will be placed 2.4 metres apart from each other, and each one will accommodate a maximum of four diners.

Mall car parks must limit their capacity to 50 percent, and no more than three people are allowed in a single vehicle. Masks and gloves are mandatory, electronic payments are encouraged, and public touch screens are disabled. Elevators are only for those who have special needs and may accommodate up to two people at a time, while escalators will be marked to enforce social distancing.

Staff are required to get tested for COVID-19 before going back to work. They’re expected to wear masks ang gloves and change them frequently, and have their temperatures taken throughout the day.

Restaurants located in malls are expected to disinfect their facilities every day, use disposable cutlery and provide sanitisers at payment terminals.
