Partial road closure on key Abu Dhabi-Al Ain road

Authorities in the UAE capital have announced the temporary closure of Abu Dhabi - Al Ain Road (E22) to carry out important road works. 

It will be completed in phases over a three week period, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi informed.

Phase one, which comes into effect from midnight on July 22, will see a two lane closure heading from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain until 6:00am on July 23. The left and middle lanes will be closed, while the right hand lane, and the exit leading to the new Bani Yas Bridge will remain open.

Phase two will be implemented from July 29 until 6:00 am on July 30. The right hand traffic lane and right shoulder will be closed, while the middle and left lanes and the exit leading to the bridge will remain open.

Phase 3 will see work commence towards in the opposite direction, heading towards Abu Dhabi. This will be a one lane closure starting from 12:00 am on August 5 until 6:00 am on August 6. One right hand lane will be closed along with the right shoulder, while the middle and left lanes will stay open. The exit of the new Bani Yas Bridge will also be closed. 

Drivers have been advised to follow the designated traffic signs and suggested alternative routes.
