Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has conducted a series of inspections targeting delivery motorcycles, resulting in over 1,200 fines.

Common violations included failure to meet public safety requirements, such as not wearing protective gear like helmets, gloves and reflective vests, as well as operating motorcycles without professional training certification.

Other offences included reckless driving and the use of motorcycles that did not meet approved technical standards.

The RTA commended delivery companies for their cooperation with specialized field inspectors during the campaigns. These efforts, carried out in collaboration with relevant government entities, included more than 11,000 inspections of delivery drivers, vehicles and facilities.

As a result, 44 motorcycles were impounded for being unfit for use or lacking valid insurance and registration, while 33 electric bikes were seized for lacking the necessary operating permits.

The inspections focused on high-activity areas like Hessa Street, Za'abeel Street, Jumeirah Street, Downtown, Mirdif and Motor City.

Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at the RTA’s Licensing Agency, emphasized the importance of these efforts in improving safety and compliance.

In addition, the RTA held awareness workshops and safety campaigns, reaching over 3,600 delivery drivers to educate them on motorcycle safety and address challenges they face on the job.
