Nine arrested in Dubai for selling unlicensed gas cylinders

DUBAI POLICE

Nine people have been arrested by Dubai Police for selling unlicensed gas cylinders, posing a serious threat to public safety.

In all 343 cylinders were confiscated.

Their storage and distribution failed to comply with established safety regulations, making them susceptible to ignition or explosion, potentially causing severe damage or human injury.

Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, said the arrests are part of Dubai Police's ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal street vendors who violate safety laws and regulations.

He emphasised gas cylinders require specific standards and conditions for transportation, storage, and usage, given that they are flammable.

He urged the public to purchase cylinders only from licensed and approved sellers.
