Universities in the UAE will have to meet a set of new licensing standards launched by the Ministry of Education.
As part of the National Strategy for Higher Education, the move aims to highlight gaps in current standards.
High-quality institutions can be rewarded, whereas low-quality ones will be subject to more stringent checks and possible probation for falling standards.
Areas covered in the new evaluations include scientific and research facilities, health and safety, resources and faculty.
Dr. Mohammad Al Mualla, undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education, tells us more.
