MoHAP hosts Ramadan majlises to boost organ donation awareness

Authorities in the UAE are continuing to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, offering patients hope for recovery and a better quality of life.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has organised Ramadan Majlises in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah to raise awareness about the 'Hayat' National Programme for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation. 

These sessions featured discussions on the critical role of the Hayat programme, which encourages organ donation during life or after death, as well as enhancing transplant success rates and improving outcomes for recipients.

Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Health Regulation, highlighted that the programme has registered 32,704 individuals so far, with 331 actual donors and 1,216 organs transplanted as of 2024.

He also noted that the UAE government's recent approval of regulations for organ donation underscores its commitment to public health and advanced medical solutions.
