Several residents in Dubai have reported instances where they were unable to use their credit cards due to a "glitch" in the swipe machines.

Many residents reportedly encountered trouble using their cards in coffee shops, petrol stations and even medical clinics.

ARN News has reached out to Network International, who operate card machines in the UAE, for a comment.
