His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has praised the role of humanitarian workers and volunteers.

In a post on his official Twitter account to mark World Humanitarian Day, His Highness said they have the greatest and most important positive impact in the lives of millions of people who are in need of help and support, while motivated by the highest and most noble bonds, the bonds of humanity.

Focusing on the role of UAE workers, His Highness said they've contributed to the UAE's position as a global hub for launching humanitarian action to provide relief and support to the needy, the weak and the less fortunate.

"With the combined efforts of 145,000 employees and volunteers in our initiatives in 2021, we succeeded in reaching 90 million people in 97 countries, and the future will bring more achievements," His Highness noted.

"We welcome the World Humanitarian Day by renewing our commitment to make every effort and provide all possibilities in the field of humanitarian work. We will continue to empower, qualify and support cadres and mobilise them for the flourishing of the charitable industry and humanitarian work, and expanding its effects in various parts of the world," Sheikh Mohammed further stated.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives celebrates World Humanitarian Day, which is marked on August 19.

The United Nations focus this year is on the importance of strengthening the global coalition for humanitarian action and concerted efforts to confront crises, especially in terms of food security, climate change, health care, education and sustainability.
