A group of people who appeared in an indecent video that was shared online have been arrested in Dubai.

In a statement on social media, Dubai Police said a criminal case has been registered and the detainees have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.

The statement warned against unacceptable behaviour that doesn’t reflect the values and ethics of the Emirati society.

Violators face up to six months in detention and fines with a maximum of AED 5,000.

It adds that those who break the law regarding the production, transmission or publication of material that may prejudice public morals face prison sentences and fines of between AED 250,000 and 500,000.
