Exclusive: Dubai testing Hatta site for wind farm feasibility

Supplied (DEWA)

Dubai is testing the feasibility of a wind farm in Hatta as the country transitions away from fossil fuel power.

That’s according to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), who spoke exclusively to Dubai Eye 103.8's Business Breakfast on Sunday.

The official adds that the study is charted to complete in three months, with data from the initial month showing promising results to develop a wind farm.

The authorities also expect to complete the hydro dam project in Hatta within 18 months. The latest reports in early September saw a 29 per cent completion rate in the project.

DEWA is also looking forward to a special summit in EXPO 2020 Dubai called the 'World Green Summit', which is expected to raise the green standards currently held by the UAE.
