Etihad Airways and Emirates operating normally but delays expected

Etihad Airways and Emirates are continuing to operate as normal following the global IT outage, which impacted institutions worldwide on Friday. However, both airlines have advised passengers to expect delays.

Etihad confirmed it, "continues to operate as normal on Friday 19 July following the global IT issue which is impacting organisations worldwide. However, there may be some limited delays to services across its network as a result of the global disruption. Etihad regrets any inconvenience caused, and the safety the safety of our guests and crew is our number one priority."

An Emirates spokesperson said: “We are aware of the global IT disruption and are monitoring the situation closely. At this time, there has been no impact on Emirates’ flight operations. There may be delays to some flight timings later today, due to knock-on effects from delayed departures from some airports around our network. Customers can check our website and app for the latest flight information, and are advised to update their contact details on their booking.”

Earlier, Dubai International (DXB) airport confirmed it was also operating as normal following issues with check-in services.

Sharjah International Airport Authority also confirmed that all flights and services are running smoothly. The authority added that it is dedicated to adhering to the protocols set by the UAE government’s Cyber Security Council.

Meanwhile, passengers flying out of Abu Dhabi with Wizz Air are being advised by the airline to arrive three hours ahead of their scheduled departure time, as it also tackles delays.
