Emirates cancels flights to India's Chennai due to severe flooding

Emirates has temporarily cancelled flights to the south Indian city of Chennai on Tuesday after torrential rains caused by Cyclone Michaung left its airport and several parts submerged.

In a statement on their website, the UAE carrier said its flights on Monday and Tuesday will be affected. 

The airline added that they "are monitoring the situation closely and aim to give customers as much notice as possible if there are any further changes to operations". 

The affected flights are as follows: 

  • EK546 04DEC23 DXB‑MAA
  • EK 547 04DEC23 MAA‑DXB
  • EK542 04DEC23 DXB‑MAA
  • EK543 04DEC23 MAA‑DXB
  • EK544 05DEC23 DXB‑MAA
  • EK545 05DEC23 MAA‑DXB

Emirates has advised passengers to contact their booking agents or local Emirates office for rebooking options.
