A 16-year-old student of an Indian school in Dubai has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) confirmed the virus was passed on from the pupil’s parent who had travelled overseas.

The student and family members have been quarantined in hospital and are stable and recovering well.

Classes have already been suspended at the school, while the DHA is conducting tests and monitoring other students as well as staff who may have interacted with the patient.

The school is also being sanitised to prevent the spread of the virus.
