Dubai steps up preventive road maintenance

Supplied

Vital preventive maintenance works have been completed on 14 major roads and 9 key intersections across Dubai in the third quarter of 2024.

This is part of the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, sustainability and safety of the city's road network.

The maintenance focused on key roads, including Dubai-Al Ain Road, Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road, and Al Ittihad Street, among others, covering highways, arterial routes, and internal streets in both residential and commercial areas.

Ras Al Khor Road, Al Rebat Street, Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street, Omar Bin Al Khattab Street, Al Musalla Street, Al Satwa Street, Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street, Al Marabea' Street and Zabeel 1 Street were the other locations covered.

The work included renewing pavement layers, repairing damage caused by natural wear and tear, and repaving sections of damaged asphalt and tiles.

Hussain Al Banna, the CEO of the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted the use of advanced smart technologies to monitor road conditions and predict maintenance needs, ensuring long-term road integrity and smooth traffic flow.

Al Banna added that these efforts support Dubai's rapid urban development and aim to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
