At least 24 accidents were reported on Dubai's roads on Sunday morning as thick fog blanketed large parts of the country.

According to Dubai Police, the accidents (including two major ones) took place over a three-hour period from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.

The authority also handled 1,810 emergency calls, which is an increase of 30 per cent compared to the same period last Sunday.

As a precautionary measure during foggy conditions, Dubai Police halted the movement of trucks and other heavy vehicles on highways in coordination with their counterparts in the neighbouring emirates.
