Dubai ramps up inspection of delivery riders

Inspections and awareness drives are being stepped up in Dubai to ensure delivery bike riders are following safety rules.

The campaigns that were launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the third quarter of 2022 will continue until the end of this year.

More than 7,000 bikes have been inspected so far, covering nine areas along Hessa Street as well as Zabeel and Jumeirah.

Driving bikes with expired licences and not wearing protective equipment and reflective vests were some of the most common violations detected during the recent checks.

"RTA is consistently monitoring this sector, which is emerging as a vital economic activity in Dubai, to ensure the safety of bike drivers and other road users. Additionally, RTA is keen to ensure that those employed in this industry deliver services at world-class standards," said Muhannad Al Mheiri, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at the RTA's Licensing Agency.
